Saumya joined the Walsh Lab as a clinical fellow in 2012 as part of the Harvard Medical School Genetics Training Program. He completed his Clinical Genetics Residency in June 2013 and stayed on in the lab as a postdoctoral fellow. Saumya holds an MBBS in Medicine from National University of Singapore, Membership of Royal College of Paediatric and Child Health (M.R.C.P.C.H), UK , Fellowship of Academy of Medicine (F.A.M.S), Singapore.
Saumya strongly believes in using the power of genetic technologies to improve an individual's health. His strong training in Pediatrics allows him to appreciate the severity of rare but lethal childhood illnesses and, more importantly, recognize the fact that a significant proportion of these illnesses have a strong genetic component. In his desire to improve care across the health industry, he is actively involved in developing diagnostic genetic tests for patients with various medical disorders, including autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability and brain malformations.
